Child Cell Phone Use Facts:
3 days ago, Jennifer Crawford
Cell phone use leads to reduced physical activity: The allure of digital entertainment often keeps children glued to screens, leading to a sedentary lifestyle. This lack of physical activity is associated with an increased risk of obesity and related health issues. Not to mention the effect on their posture. Some children may sit with their shoulders hunched and head bent leading to pain in the shoulders, back, neck, and more, in the long run.
Saturday, February 15 is National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day! According to the National Association of School Resource Officers, there are a couple important reasons we recognize these service-oriented, kind individuals each year: - To recognize the work of SROs in keeping schools safe and building positive relationships with students, families, and communities - To show appreciation for the valuable role SROs play in the education community We LOVE our SROs, and we hope you'll take a moment to show your appreciation for their work as well! Child Cell Phone Use Facts:
10 days ago, Jennifer Crawford
Cell phone use causes sleep disruption: Research from the American Academy of Pediatrics suggests that the use of smartphones before bedtime can disrupt sleep patterns in children. The blue light emitted by screens interferes with the production of melatonin, a hormone responsible for regulating sleep. When children don’t get enough sleep, they are moodier, focusing is harder, and it can affect how well they do in school.
Please join us in thanking our school counselors for all the hard work they do and all the kindness they display! Our counseling staff members are an integral part of each building, and we're thankful for them!
